pine family

The pine or Pinaceae family contains over 220 species in 11 genera and includes many of the well-known conifers.

The most familiar genera include: fir (Abies), cedar (Cedrus), larch (Larix), spruce (Picea), pine (Pinus), Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga) and hemlock (Tsuga).

They are found in most of the Northern Hemisphere with the majority in temperate climates.
