The Pea or Fabaceae family (previously known as Leguminosae) is a large family (7% of all flowering plants) which is economically important. Its members are commonly recognized by their legume fruit and compound, stipulated leaves.

The family includes soybeans, peas, chickpeas, lupines, alfalfa and peanuts to mention a few species.
