Caragana maximowicziana
Unnamed speciesCaragana maximowicziana is a member of the pea or Fabaceae family and is native to China (Szechwan and Gansu provinces) and eastern Tibet.
- It is a densely branched, deciduous spreading shrub reaching 1–1.8 m high.
- Young shoots are slightly downy, maturing to be armed with very slender spines 1.2–2 cm long, developed from the main stalks of the leaves.
- Leaves are pinnate, with 4–6 pairs of leaflets, each leaf linear-oblong, approx 1 cm long, rounded tip, often with a small tail, downy.
- Flowers are solitary, very short stalks, yellow, an elongated 2.5 cm long, calyx cylindrical and 1 cm long, with short triangular lobes, downy.
- Fruit is a pod 2.1 cm long, downy.
