walnut family
Members of the walnut or Juglandaceae family are native to the Americas, Eurasia and Southeast Asia.
The family has 10 genera and about 50 species, including important nut trees such as the walnuts (Juglans), pecan (Carya illinoinensis) and the hickories (Carya). It also includes the wingnuts (Pterocarya).
Leaves are pinnately compound and flowers form catkins.
