Engelhardia spicata
云南黄杞 speciesThe Engelhardia spicata is in the Juglandaceae family and is native to Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is a deciduous tree up to 20 m tall.
- Leaves are alternate, imparipinnate (compound but with no terminal leaf), 15-35 cm long, petiole 2.5 to 11.5 cm long, with 4–14 ovate to elliptic leaflets of a size of 7-15 cm long and 2-7 cm across, obtuse, no teeth.
- Species is monoecious. Male flowers are small, green, slender catkins with 4-5 stamens; female flowers are in pendulous spikes.
- Fruit is a globose or ovoid nutlet 3-6 mm long, seated on a 3-winged bract, lateral wings 1.5-2 cm long.
