Arizona walnut is in the walnut or Juglandaceae family and is native to the southern United States (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah) and parts of Mexico.

  • Leaves are pinnately compound odd, 20–34 cm long, with 9–15 lanceolate leaflets lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, 5–10 cm long and 2–3.2 cm across, pointed, margins serrate.
  • Male flowers in long, drooping catkins; female flowers are solitary or very few in a cluster.
  • Fruit ripens during the autumn into a nearly round nut 2.5–3.7 cm across.
