Lindera praecox
大果山胡椒 praecox speciesLindera praecox is in the laurel or Lauraceae family and is native to Japan and Korea. It is a shrub growing to 5 m tall.
- Leaves are simple, alternate, thin, ovate or oval, occasionally rotund, 5–9 cm long and 2.5–4 cm wide, taper-pointed or blunt at the apex, dark green above, pale and glaucous beneath, usually glabrous, 4 pairs of pinninerved lateral veins; leaf petiole is 5-10 mm long.
- Flowers are small, greenish yellow, in short-stocked umbels about 1.3 cm in diameter, visible in March-April.
- Fruit is globose, up to 1.5 cm in diameter, yellow-brown at maturity in September.
