CupressaceaeTaxodium

Montezuma cypress is a member of the cypress or Cupressaceae family and is native to Mexico and Guatemala but also is found in small areas of southern United States. It grows along rivers and next to springs and marshes.

  • Although characteristics are quite similar to T. distichum, it differs in that it has its own distinct range, female cones are slightly smaller and "knees" are rare in T. mucronatum.
