Ulmus glabra 'Camperdownii'
Camperdown speciesCamperdown elm is a member of the elm or Ulmaceae family and is a cultivar of Ulmus glabra. It was discovered in 1840 as a tree growing in a distorted fashion at Camperdown House in Dundee, Scotland. It has been distributed widely as an ornamental tree throughout Europe and North America.
Being sterile, it is propagated by grafting onto the stem of one of several varieties of elm trees. Its contorted branches and pendulous form have made it an interesting garden tree.
