Halesia tetraptera

- Leaves are alternate, simple, ovate, 9–15 cm long, slightly pointed, with a finely serrated margin.
- Flowers are very showy white, bell-shaped, with 4 petals, up to 3 cm long, in dangling clusters on 2–3 cm long stocks.
- Fruit is a distinctive oblong drupe up to 4 cm long, with 4 wings extending its length, yellowish orange in summer and drying out to reddish-brown by fall, some remaining on the tree over winter.
