Camellia oleifera

The tea oil camellia is an evergreen plant or small tree that is a member of the tea or Theaceae family and is native to China. It can reach a height of about 6 m tall, with thin, upright, multiple trunks and branches.

• Leaves are simple, alternate, elliptic to obovate, to 7.5 cm long, leathery, glossy dark green, a pointed tip, with a finely serrated margin.
• Flowers are 5–7 cm diameter, with 5–8 white petals , produced in mid to late fall.
• It is cultivated for the oil derived from its seeds which is used in cooking.
