Litsea kingii is in the laurel or Lauraceae family and is found in India, Nepal and parts of China. The plant is appreciated for its colorful yellow flowers and a delightful spicy fragrance.

  • Leaves are simple, alternate, thick green, 6–12 cm long and 2–4 cm across, untoothed, tapered at both ends, young leaves quite glabrous; petiole is 8–12 mm long.
  • Species is monoecious; female flowers are pale yellow, about 1 cm in diameter, clustering in multiple pairs at the bases of leaves and close to the tips of branches.
