buckthorn family
The Buckthorn or Rhamnaceae is a large family of flowering trees and shrubs containing 55 genera and over 900 species. They are more common in tropical and sub-tropical areas.
- Leaves are simple, 3–15 cm long, with the veins curving upward toward the end of the leaf.
- Flowers are small, symmetrical with petals of a variety of colours, forming dense clusters.
- Fruit is a berry (drupe) or nut, dispersed by birds and mammals.
