Purple beautyberry is a member of the mint or Lamiaceae family and is native to China, Vietnam, Korea and China.

  • Branches can be long, arching and slender, dipping downward often to touch the ground.
  • Deciduous leaves are elliptic to obovate, green, 2.5–7.5 cm long, turning yellow in fall.
  • Berries are small drupes, purple in colour, attractive for growing closely together in large clusters, hitting their peak in October and dropping in early winter. They are quite edible to wildlife.
