Meliosma simplicifolia
单叶泡花树 speciesMeliosma simplicifolia is in the Sabiaceae family and is native to China (SE Xizang, W. Yunnan ),and Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, N. Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. It is a small tree growing up to 5 m tall.
- Young shoots are reddish-velvet, hairy.
- Leaves are simple, oblong-lanciolate to oblanceolate-obovate, 7–40 cm long and 2–16 cm broad, leathery, densely coppery pubescent when young, coarse to sharply-toothed or untoothed (entire), end long pointed, wedge-shaped at the base, with 7–22 pairs of veins; petiole is 1–2 cm long, velvety; colour in the fall is yellow.
- Flowers are small (4–6 mm across), cream white, very abundant, in terminal upright panicles 10–40 cm long, branched 3 or 4 times.
- Fruit is a nearly round drupe 6–8 mm across, black, in panicles, and is abundant in the fall.
