Meliosma veitchiorum
暖木 speciesMeliosma veitchiorum is in the Sabiaceae family and is native to China (S Anhui, NE Guizhou, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, S. Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, N. Yunnan, N. Zhejiang). It is a small tree growing up to 20 m tall with very stout, rigid, erect branches .
- Leaves are pinnate, 60–90 cm long, with 9–11 ovate or oblong leaflets, occasionally heart-shaped at the base, glabrous except on the midrib beneath, margins with no or sparse teeth; colour in the fall is yellow.
- Flowers are small (4–6 mm across), cream white, very abundant, in terminal upright panicles 40–45 cm long, branched 4 or 5 times, and 30 cm wide at the base.
- Fruit is a drupe 2–3 mm across, is abundant in the fall in panicles, and a rich violet colour.
