Ehretia acuminata
koda speciesThe koda tree (the common name in Australia) is a species in the borage or Boraginaceae family and is a deciduous tree found in Japan, China, Bhutan, Nepal, Laos, Vietnam, New Guinea and Australia. It is a medium to large-sized tree that can reach a height of up to about 30 m tall.
- Leaves are alternate, simple, obovate, ovate or elliptic, finely toothed, 8–13 cm long, tapering to a point; midrib and lateral veins are distinct on both sides of the leaf, raised on the underside.
- Flowers are whitish, fragrant and are in panicles; individual flowers are 4 mm in diameter, sessile, appearing from September to November in the southern hemisphere.
- Fruit matures from January to April and is a yellow or orange drupe 4–5 mm in diameter and containing 4 seeds.
