Euonymus americanus

- Leaves are opposite, ovate-elliptic, up to 7.5 cm long and 1–4 cm broad, pointed, with finely-toothed margins, turning dark orange-red in the fall.
- Flowers are inconspicuous 5-petaled, greenish-yellow, from the leaf axils in May-June.
- Fruits are warty, crimson-red in the fall, 2 cm in diameter, purportedly resembling strawberries, hence the common name of strawberry bush, having 5-lobed capsules which split open when ripe.
