Acer calcaratum
三裂枫 speciesAcer calcaratum is in the soapberry or Sapindaceae family and is native to Yunnan (China), Sikkim (India) and to northern Indochina (Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand). It can be a shrub or a multi-stemmed tree, reaching up to 10 m in height.
- Leaves are deciduous, simple, opposite, up to 15 cm long and 21 cm wide, with 3 deeply cut lobes with no teeth; upper surface is dark green and glabrous, lower surface pale green; petiole is 2-4 cm long.
- Species is dioecious; flowers are 5-numerous, cream to yellow.
- Winged samaras are double, spreading at an angle of near 180°, with the whole fruit being 3–4 cm wide.
