- Leaves are opposite, pinnately compound, to 20 cm long, with 5–7 leaflets 3.5 cm wide, abruptly acuminate, serrated margins, midrib downy.
- Flowers are in string-like clusters to 15 cm, blooming late in spring, very showy.
- Fruit is a samara 2.5–3 cm long, oblanceolate in shape.
