Populus wilsonii
Wilson's speciesWilson's poplar is native to China. The crown is broadly tower-shaped, with the tree growing up to 25 m in height.
- Branchlets are purple or dull brown when young, becoming grayish brown, round, coarsely robust, smooth. Buds are brown or purplish brown, ovoid-globose, resinous.
- Leaves are simple, alternate, leaf blade broadly ovate, broader at the base, 8–20 cm long and 7–15 cm across.
- Species is dioecious. Male catkin is up to 7 cm long, female (fruiting) catkin up to 15 cm, capsule ovoid, covered with fine hairs, flowering in Apr–May and fruiting in May–Jun.
- Bark dark grayish brown, slightly furrowed, exfoliating.
