Malus sargentii

The sergeant crabapple is in the rose or Rosaceae family and originates from Japan. It reaches about 2.7 m in height.

• Leaves are ovate, lobed, dark green, turning yellow in autumn.
• Flower’s pink buds open to a profuse, but brief, spring bloom of fragrant, white flowers 2.5 cm in diameter.
• Fruit is a small red crabapple 5 mm in diameter, maturing in the fall; fruits are long-lasting and attractive to birds.
