Crataegus x lavallei

Lavalle hawthorn is in the rose or Rosaceae family and is a hybrid developed by crossing 2 species in the hawthorn genus. It is a small tree with glossy dark green unlobed leaves, being more erect than most hawthorns.

• Leaves are simple, alternate, narrow, elliptic, irregularly toothed, dark green, up to 10 cm long.
• Flowers are white, 5 petals, 2 cm in diameter.
• Fruit is ellipsoid, 1 cm long, ripening to orange-red in September and persisting through winter.
