Crataegus douglasii

Black or Douglas hawthorn is in the rose or Rosaceae family and is a compact shrub native to northern and western North America.

• Leaves are alternate, simple, fan-shaped, large-toothed beyond the midpoint, to 5 cm long, nearly the same across.
• White flowers 1.5 cm across, at the ends of each thin branch have greenish centers, 5 petals.
• Fruit is a round, red pome up to 1 cm across.
• Thorns are found along the branches are 1–2 cm long. Buds are small, round and red in color.
