Manchurian snakebark speciesManchurian snakebark maple is in the soapberry or Sapindaceae family and is native to eastern Russia and south to Manchuria and Korea. It is in the snakebark group of maples identified by: Snakeskin-like bark; buds on stocks, 1 pair of scales; flowers (and double samaras) on pendulous racemes. It reaches a height of up to 10–15 m.
- Leaves are opposite, simple, 3 or 5-lobed, round in general outline, papery, up to 12 cm across, lobes doubly toothed at the edge. Foliage turns golden-yellow in the fall.
- Winter twigs and buds are reddish.
- Flowers appear in mid-spring, in pendulous clusters.
