Acer glabrum
Douglas speciesDouglas maple or Rocky Mountain maple is in the soapberry or Sapindaceae family and is native to western North America from the southwestern coast of Alaska, covering the western half of British Columbia and extending into much of the southwestern United States, excluding very dry areas.
It is a vine maple, growing mostly laterally, reaching up to 10 m tall and 12 cm in diameter.
- Leaves are opposite, simple or compound, 3–5 lobed, with an acute point, coarsely serrated margins.
- Flowers are yellow-green in small clusters.
- Fruit is a double samara 2.5 cm long, less than 45° angle.
- Twigs are slender, pale green to red; buds are red, pointed.
