Celtis glabra is in the cannabis or Cannabaceae family and is a small tree or shrub with a rounded head of branches native to the Caucasus and Asia Minor. It can grow up to 20 m in height.

It also is referred to in the literature as Celtis planchoniana.

  • Young shoots at first have minute scattered down, becoming quite glabrous later.
  • Leaves are deciduous, simple, alternate, obliquely ovate, 2.5–6.4 cm long and 1.4–3.4 cm wide, markedly unequal-sided at the base, usually rounded on one side the stalk and tapered on the other; the apex is pointed, margins have large, incurved teeth except near the base; upper surface is dark green, not downy, but covered with minute warts give them a rough appearance; lower surface paler and smooth.
  • Fruit is globose, reddish brown, 4 mm long, on stalks 1.3–2.5 cm long.
