Acer cappadocicum
Cappadocian speciesCappadocian maple is in the soapberry or Sapindaceae family and is native to Asia, from central Turkey to the Himalayas and southwestern China, growing up to 30 m tall.
- Leaves are opposite, simple, palmate, 5-7 lobed with shallow sinuses (channels separating the veins), toothless edges; they turn yellow in the fall.
- Winged seeds form a double samara with a rounded head, wings at about a 110° angle, straight sides.
- Flowers are small and yellow, on separate stems, forming clusters.
- Leaf stems exude a milky sap when broken, like leaves of Norway maple.
