Photinia serratifolia
Taiwanese speciesTaiwanese photinia or Chinese photinia is in the rose or Rosaceae family and is a shrub native to China, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and India. It is a shrub or tree growing 4–6 m tall.
- Leaves are evergreen, simple, alternate, leathery, finely-toothed, deep green, with prominent mid-ribs, new leaves have bronze tones in the spring, some turn reddish in the fall.
- Flowers are numerous, in terminal corymbs 10–16 cm across; each flower is 8 mm wide, white, 5-petaled, with about 20 stamens; petals are roundish, spreading; flowers blossom in the spring.
- Fruit is a roundish, orange-red pome, glabrous, about 6 mm across, ripening in August and persisting on the tree over winter.
