Scheffleria taiwania is an evergreen shrub or small tree the ivy or Araliaceae family, native to Taiwan. It grows to 2-4 m tall.

It is one of several species in the hugely varied genus Schefflera (umbrella plants) that are grown ornamentally for their handsome foliage.

  • Leaves are evergreen, palmately compound, up to 15 cm long, with up to 11 narrowly ovate or oblong papery leaflets 10–15 cm long and 2.5–5 cm across, arranged radially around the central stock; both surfaces of leaflets are glabrous, 5-7 pairs of secondary veins on each side of the midrib, margins entire (no teeth), apex acuminate (pointed); petiole glabrous, 10–25 cm long.
  • Flowers are in sprays in August to October.
  • Fruit is a dark globose berry (drupe) 0.5–0.7 cm diameter, developing in October to November.
