Photinia beauverdiana var. notabilis
厚叶中华石楠 speciesPhotinia beauverdiana var. nobilis is in the rose or Rosaceae family and is native to western, central and southern China. It is a shrub or small tree to about 10 m high.
- Young shoots are slender, clad rather densely with whitish hairs, later more or less glabrous.
- Leaves are evergreen, ovate to elliptic, variable in size but up to 12.5cm long and 2.5 cm across, apex to a slender to acuminate tip, petioles clad with the same type of hair as young leaves, and 1.3–2.0 cm long.
- Flowers are white, about 6 mm across, 5 petals, with about 20 stamens and red or pinkish anthers; they are in clusters 7.5–10cm across in the spring.
- Fruit is globose, bright red, up to 9 mm across.
