- Leaves are evergreen, opposite, small, leathery, ovoid, 3–6.5 cm long and 1–2 cm across, tapering slightly towards both ends, margin toothed, dark dull green.
- Flowers are small, fragrant, greenish-white, produced in May-June in short axilliary clusters up to 1.3 cm long.
- Fruit is a roundish-oval, blue drupe 0.6 cm long, containing a single seed.
