The narrow-leaved mock privet is a small tree in the olive or Oleaceae family, native to the western and central Mediterranean Basin, Portugal to Albania. It is a dense shrub up to 3 m in height.

  • Leaves are evergreen, opposite, small, leathery, narrow-ovate to lanceolate and 2.5–6.5 cm long and 0.7–0.9 cm across, tapering towards both ends, rarely toothed, dark dull green, glabrous on both surfaces.
  • Flowers are small, fragrant, greenish-white, produced in May-June in short axilliary clusters up to 1.3 cm long.
  • Fruit is a roundish-oval, blue-black drupe 0.6 cm long, containing a single seed.
