Kalmia buxifolia

It is native to the eastern United States, occurring in three separate areas from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, the Coastal Plain of the Carolinas, and the southeastern Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a shrub growing 10 cm to 1 m in height.
- Leaves are alternately or oppositely arranged on the stems, oval to lance-shaped and up to 1.4 cm long.
- Flowers (inflorescences) are contained in raceme or umbels of up to 18 flowers with white or light pink petals.
- Fruit is contained in a capsule and is a few millimeters long.
