Henry’s stone oak is a tree species in the beech or Fagaceae family. It is native to parts China. Trees to 20 m tall, forming neat, oval, or rounded crowns of branches.

  • Leaves are narrowly oblong, 12–22 cm long and 3–6 cm broad, leathery to rigidly leathery, untoothed, tapered at both ends, more slender towards the point, pale green, shining; petiole (stalk) is up to 2.5 cm long.
  • Male flowers are solitary in leaf axils, on a raceme 10–14 cm long; female and androgynous flower stems to 20 cm long.
  • Fruit is a globose acorn, flattened at the base, 2.1 cm wide, often in clusters of 3; cup encloses up to half of the nut; ripening is in August to October of the following year.
