Quercus stellata
post speciesPost oak is the white oak group (Quercus) and is a North American species native to the eastern and central United States, found in all the coastal states from Massachusetts to Texas, and inland as far as Nebraska.
- Leaves have a very distinctive shape, with three perpendicular terminal lobes, shaped much like a Maltese cross. They are leathery with dense short hair beneath.
- Drooping yellow flower catkins up to 12 cm long are borne during spring.
- Acorns are 1.5–2 cm long and are mature in 6 months.
