Chaenomeles sinensis

Chinese species

RosaceaeChaenomeles

Chinese quince is sometimes placed in the Chaenomeles genus, as C. sinensis, but notable differences are evident, such as the lack of thorns, and flowers being produced singly (not in clusters). The Chinese quince is also closely related to the European Quince (Cydonia oblonga); but notable differences include the serrated leaves, and lack of fuzz.

Thus, Chinese quince has been placed in its own genus, Pseudocydonia, as P. sinense where is can be found in this database.
