yew family

The yew or Taxaceae family includes 7 genera and about 30 species of plants.

  • Leaves are evergreen, spirally arranged but often twisted to appear 2-ranked.
  • Leaves are linear to lanciolate with stomatal lines on the undersides.
  • Female cones develop into a fleshy, brightly coloured aril, partly enclosing the seed.
